Property Description

Gemutlichkeit! This German word means good cheer, and it's embodied by this warm and welcoming German Ranch Haus. "Omie" is German for "Grandma," and this was home to a sweet couple whose family and friends filled it for years. You can almost hear their hearty laughter! The mantle was built from a cedar tree, and its stump out back has the couple's names carved into it. Just ten miles from downtown Fredericksburg, this family weekend getaway is nestled in breathtaking Hill Country scenery.

The Cowboy Capital of the World: Why Bandera Still Rides Tall

There are towns in Texas with cowboy roots — and then there’s Bandera. Nestled along the Medina River, surrounded by rolling hills and wide-open ranchland, Bandera isn’t just proud of its heritage — it lives it every day. Known far and wide as the Cowboy Capital of the World, Bandera embodies the spirit of the Old West with a genuine authenticity that’s getting harder to find. Here, boots aren’t just for show, rodeos still pack the stands, and a handshake still means something.

The Spirit of the Hill Country: Where Texas History and Adventure Meet

There’s a certain feeling you get when you step into the Texas Hill Country — a quiet mix of wonder, freedom, and belonging. Maybe it’s the wide skies that stretch forever, or the way the hills catch the evening light just right. Maybe it’s the old stone towns, where history whispers through limestone walls, or the rivers that carve their way patiently through time. Whatever it is, this place has a spirit all its own. It’s rugged yet graceful, wild yet welcoming — the kind of place that invites you to explore, stay a while, and remember what life feels like when it’s simple and real.

Absolutely beautiful home. The house was decorated for Christmas, making for a lovely girl's trip. There were deer, donkeys, sheep, and bulls to watch and admire. The owners were kind and attentive. Thank you for the a wonderful place to stay.
David
The minute we walked in we felt at home. This is a wonderful place for families and couples. The “spirit filled” reminders throughout the ranch house were a beautiful way to remind those of God’s goodness. We were greeted by the property owners within minutes who were just lovely. We loved our stay here and we will be returning with family/ friends. Highly recommend. Hospitality was exceptional.
Denise
Want to let you know that my husband and I always enjoy staying at Omies. It’s one of the few b&bs that is handicapped equipped in the bathrooms. And Bing & Debbie are excellent hosts and have become good friends. Omies is our go to place when we need to escape to the Hill Country to reset.
Irene
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Omie's Haus! The home was absolutely as described. The house was immaculate. The surroundings were breathtaking! We enjoyed all the animals. The home was cozy and could not have asked for a better experience. I will definitely be back with the family!!! Thank you so much!
Khristie
My daughters and I rented this house for a Mother/Daughter getaway before my youngest gets married this spring, and we had an amazing stay! Originally, I chose this place because of the accessibility, as I recently had foot surgery and was on a knee scooter. The single level home with smooth concrete floors and the handicap accessible shower was perfect for me! But even beyond that, this house is perfect! My older daughter is a professional cook and she was so pleased with the incredibly well-equipped kitchen, which we never expect in vacation rentals. We had everything we needed to cook all our meals! The weekend was cold and drizzly, but the wonderful fireplace was so cozy and the extra blankets throughout the house were great to snuggle up with, especially as we used them to wrap up and enjoy the porch swing and rockers on the covered wraparound porch. We loved watching the sheep, deer, cows, and alpaca in the fields. It was so peaceful! We also enjoyed the games that were supplied…late night Mexican Train Dominos was our favorite. We never even turned on the TV, even though it had all the streaming channels we could need. I’m already working on plans for another visit! This will definitely be a place we will visit again and again!
