INGRAM, TEXAS: THE HILL COUNTRY’S ROCK TOWN

Nestled alongside the Guadalupe River halfway between Kerrville and Hunt lies the town of Ingram. This community of about 1,800 people is almost a combo of several towns in its vicinity, in that it’s taken advantage of local resources and has capitalized on them to make it a prime example of a Hill Country town. You’ll find farming and ranching in Ingram, wineries that take advantage of the unique local terroir, attractions linked to recreation on the river, and even a model of Stonehenge!

HUNT, TEXAS: CAMPERS’ RENDEZVOUS

Just east of Hunt in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, you’ll find a marker erected in 2005 that discusses the history of the town and its vicinity. Hunt itself is located 13 miles west of Kerrville, at the junction of the north and south forks of the Guadalupe River. As the historical marker states, the town of Hunt is the ultimate result of three different communities that were founded in more or less the same place!

KENDALIA, TEXAS: HERD WORK & HOEDOWNS

The Hill Country town of Kendalia is near the Guadalupe River, about halfway between Blanco and Boerne as the crow flies. It’s one of the smaller towns in the region; its population has hovered around 100 the past several decades, and when you count the ranchers and rural dwellers in its ZIP code that number increases to about 350. Nonetheless, Kendalia has a fascinating history all its own.

This cabin was absolutely one of my favorite stays to date. It is situated on a private piece of land with beautiful surroundings. The amenities like grill, swing, pergola, and fire pit were all in perfect working order and spotless (no rust, cob webs, etc.). This is 100% glamping at its finest! Plus even the drive to and from the cabin are beautiful! We drove to Garner State Park and Medina to do some sightseeing. The cabin was clean, the beds were comfy, and it made a lovely getaway for my boyfriend and I. Hosts were responsive and helpful when I requested to extend my stay! So happy with this stay!

I am new to Air BnB. There is no comparison to staying in a hotel with this place. The cabin was very private and clean. Full of character and super quiet. We loved staying in this cabin and did not want to leave. Would definitely go back. Definitely worth the money. "Thank you" to the owners!

We are regular Airbnb travellers and would rate Old Fellows cabin in Kerrville as one of the nicest, best-located, and real value of all the places we have stayed. The place was very clean, modern, had everything we needed to feel at home, and was an easy drive to all the sites we wanted to see in Fredericksburg . Enjoyed all the local restaurants and cafes. The pictures of the cabin online do not do it justice- comfy mattress, soft sheets and fluffy towels plus a fully stocked kitchen. Enjoyed morning coffee on the porch swing watching the sunrise. Hubby was able to capture photos of the sunset, moon and stars from the upstairs deck. Nice quiet location, very relaxing time. Would love to visit again sometime. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice getaway.

We LOVED our stay here! The pictures do not do it justice - it feels larger in person than the pictures portray. The space was perfect for my husband, myself, and our large dog, but would have been comfy still with another couple. I would be mindful of who is sleeping upstairs if you're utilizing that upstairs bedroom - the stairs are a bit steep and the steps are narrow, so would not be ideal for an older person, but was fine for us. The kitchen was stocked and had everything we needed to cook pretty much all of our meals. We walked around the property multiple times, our dog ran free the whole time, and we built fires in the fire pit every night. The space was exactly what we were looking for and we will definitely be back!

Old Fellers Cabin was just what my wife and I needed. Quiet, peaceful, and close enough to town if we needed anything. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate but I bet the star gazing from here is amazing! However there are enough deer to keep you watching the brush all day long. We will definitely be back from another stay, might even bring the whole family next time. Thanks again for another great cabin for our special weekends away from the world! You guys are awesome and my first spot to look when planning another trip. We love to get away to something different, and forget about the day-to-day and y'all always come through. Your cleaning staff is top notch, and we always have what need. Keep up the good work, we'll talk soon! Thank You Bunches, Drayton and Lauren

The cottage is perfectly situated in peaceful, natural surroundings. Absolutely love the peace and quiet, watching the meteor shower and stars from the second level balcony / porch (it’s above the tree line and the Adirondack chairs are so comfortable for stargazing!) So nice to enjoy morning coffee on the porch watching the wildlife, and the luxe bathtub came in handy for a nice relaxing soak after a long hike at nearby Lost Maples! Overall a fantastic stay that I wish could be longer! Hosts are friendly and responsive, with clear instructions for the house. Their app also has fantastic recommendations for things to do in the area- a good resource I’ll continue to use! Thank you Backroads!!
