Set in a secluded location along a private lake, this genuine caboose offers the perfect mix of rustic charm and modern comfort-ideal for couples, small families, or anyone looking for a one-of-a-kind stay near the Cowboy Capital of the World.

Once a hardworking railcar used for everything from bunking to lookout duty, this caboose has been lovingly converted into a cheerful retreat surrounded by 100 acres of quiet countryside. The setting is private, peaceful, and loaded with charm. You'll have the whole place to yourself, making it a wonderful escape for travelers seeking solitude, romance, or a quiet place to recharge. With its bright red exterior, wood-paneled interior, and charming touches throughout, it's more than a place to sleep-it's a piece of living history.

Guests at the Caboose enjoy private access to 1,500 feet of pristine Medina River frontage, ideal for swimming, tubing, fishing, or simply relaxing by the water. Just outside the caboose, a large deck overlooks the property's private lake-another serene viewing spot or perfect place for morning coffee. The expansive ranch grounds invite hiking, exploring, and wildlife watching, and there's plenty of room for pets to roam. This property is pet-friendly, and the peaceful environment makes it a favorite for guests traveling with furry companions.

Inside, the caboose is clean, cool, and cozy. Central air and heating keep the temperature comfortable in any season, and the living area includes a rustic Franklin stove for added warmth and character. The bunk-style bed features a twin on top and two twins (trundle that makes into one bed) on the bottom, making it ideal for two to three guests. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to prepare meals, including a stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. A full bathroom with a shower is included, and all basic linens and towels are provided. A TV with local San Antonio channels is also included for a relaxing and private stay.

Biker Rallies of Texas

Supporting and boosting local businesses and events is at the very heart of what we do at Backroads Reservations! The good folks at Biker Rallies of Texas are the devoted organizers of the most popular motorcycle rallies in the Hill Country. With major rallies in the spring and fall, they work nonstop to assure safety, organization, great memories, and a good time is had by all attending! They’ve got their start in 2000, when they arranged rallies in Liberty County and Kerrville, Texas. Two years later, they found their permanent home in Bandera. Let’s take a look at the two major events they currently host.

Boerne’s Hill Country Mile

In the hustle of modern American life, it’s easy to lose sight of an important cultural fact: it’s difficult to get everything done on your daily to-do list without a car. Too many towns have been designed with outwardly-expanding sectors of commerce that put one business or attraction miles away from another. The larger the size of the town, the more true this adage seems to be.

Bandera is a beautiful little town in the Texas Hill Country, and Muller's Ark is a great property just outside of town. Mr. Steve is a wonderful host, super friendly, salt of the earth! My family and I really enjoyed the stay in this Caboose and the history of how it it was acquired. We look forward to our next stay at Muller's Ark!

We stayed at the Caboose on Muller's Ark Ranch last Thurs thru Sunday. It was an amazing place to spend some quiet time on a wonderful piece of property. Quite possibly the most peaceful trip I've taken in 20 years. The property owner himself was an amazing guy and we enjoyed meeting him and knowing some of the property's history. We HIGHLY recommend this place. My wife and I had such a memorable experience, as did our 3 year old German Shepherd. Thanks to all involved in making this trip happen so smoothly.

Thank you Steve and Patsy. It was lovely, quiet and peaceful. I would suggest that you check out the one broken board on the landing outside of the kitchen I can certainly recommend the caboose to my friends!
Carly
Comfortable, charming, basic accommodations that allowed us to be active during the day in the surrounding nature and come home and relax.
Kelly
Great experience. The caboose was a fun way to spend a weekend and there is lots in the area to do.
