If you're looking for a wildlife-focused Hill Country getaway, the BlueBird Cottage in Tarpley is your perfect vacation cabin! It's a brand-new rental home on 20 acres of wildlife-exempted property; that means the land is set up specifically to support native animals and birds. On top of all that, it's also within a half hour's drive of the Hill Country and Lost Maples State Natural Areas. But you won't be totally isolated if you want some in-town fun; Tarpley, Bandera, and Pipe Creek are all close by!
Here's a quick overview of the birds you'll see at the (the aptly-named) BlueBird Cottage: vividly-colored painted buntings, cardinals, bluebirds, black half chickadees, and vermilion flycatchers, among many others. Deer, turkeys, kit foxes, and other species visit the grounds regularly, too. There are tons of bird feeders, and seating around them, for optimal viewing. There's also a 3/4-mile hiking trail on the property, as well as tree swings to enjoy. While small pets are allowed, they must not interfere with the wildlife.
BlueBird Cottage has both a screened-in porch and an open-air patio, complete with outdoor seating, for taking in those amazing Hill Country views. There's a hammock to relax on, and cornhole (bags) game to enjoy outside, too! In you're in the mood for BBQ, you'll find a charcoal pit and a fire pit where you can gather round and enjoy a feast. Please keep in mind smoking is not allowed anywhere on the property.
Inside this bright and beautiful brand-new guest home, it's bright and roomy, and loaded with comforts like central air, plush furniture, Wifi Internet service, TVs with a library of DVDs and Firestick with free channels, and even board games to play! There are two bedrooms here, each with a roomy and comfortable queen-sized bed, plus a queen-sized sleeper sofa in the living area, offering peaceful slumber for up to six people. The full bath has a large shower, and there's also a convenient additional half-bath. Clean and fresh bed and bath linens are provided here, too! BlueBird Cottage has a fully-appointed kitchen with two different coffee makers, and there's also a washer/dryer combo on hand for cleanup convenience.
