Property Description

This is a perfect destination for a large group or just for a couple to get away from it all in the beautiful Texas Hill Country near Pipe Creek, just a short distance from Bandera, Boerne and Helotes. There are six new log cabins that are very thoughtfully finished for your comfort. Each is set at an angle so that you're space is private with no view of your neighbors in the next cabin, just a view of the meadow and the wildlife that roam this 20 acre property. Each cabin has a King bed, bath with large shower and hairdryer, kitchenette with microwave, mini fridge and coffee maker, satellite TV and French doors that open onto a porch with a table and two chairs. There are two gas grills at the large common pavilion area for your use. Paper goods, grilling utensils and plastic ware are supplied there. Window units provide A/C and heat. All bed and bath linens are provided.

Red Bluff Creek runs through the property as well as a seasonal creek. The pavilion is a great gathering place. Besides the huge outdoor kitchen with icemaker there are numerous picnic tables, a large screen satellite TV and a stereo music system. Two portable wifi hot spots are available for guests and there is good AT&T cell service. Children and your well behaved pet are welcome. Al's Hideaway is very biker friendly and a wonderful location for exploring the great rides the Hill Country has to offer.

The Hill Country is Wine Country!

In the past two decades or so, the wine industry in the Hill Country has exploded with growth. That’s easy to see, with new wineries opening at a rapid pace...but we, and some of our readers, have questions. How are productive wine regions discovered? Are there official wine producing areas, and if so, how are they designated as such? This article will dig a little deeper into these questions and more.

A Handy Hill Country Q & A

At Backroads Reservations, we’re especially aware that the Texas Hill Country is reliant in a big way on tourism. We’re proud to welcome people here, and to introduce them to our own little corner of heaven. With that said, we’re also aware that everyone can’t be from here; we have a tongue-in-cheeksaying that “I’m not from Texas, but I got here as fast as I could.”

A Park By Any Other Name: Hill Country WMAs

Visitors to the Texas Hill Country are generally aware of the state, county, and city parks available to them for recreation and relaxation. From the sprawling 12,000-plus acres of the Government Canyon State Natural Area to the modest but still impressive 16 acres of Old Tunnel State Park, there’s plenty of space and natural diversity to explore, not to mention parks of wildly varying sizes!
