Description

History and tradition are the driving forces behind Bandera’s First National Ice Haus! The striking two-story limestone building on Main Street opened in 1890 as the First National Bank, and operated as such for over 50 years. As an homage to the German heritage that has influenced much of the Hill Country, the Ice Haus adopted the German spelling in their name. Ice houses started as suppliers for early refrigeration, and over the years became social hubs and saloons. All that history has come together in a great women-owned Bandera institution! Stop by the First National Ice Haus, open Thursday through Saturday nights.
