Lantana Lodge in Sabinal

Property Type : Houses

Property Description

This Hill Country getaway near Sabinal is truly special! Every stick of lumber in the Lantana Lodge is a labor of love, from the furniture to the guest home itself, crafted by hand by its owner. Located in the beautiful Hill Country River Region, the Lodge sleeps up to a dozen, and stands as a warm tribute to the couple who lived here and loved the land. That love is reflected in every room of Lantana Lodge, and in its pond and waterfall features, too. It's a personal experience to stay here!

When he got a sawmill, the owner sought hundreds of trees that would become Lantana Lodge, and his expert craftsmanship let him barter for most of the expense it took to build. The furniture, bed frames, deck, pond dock, and covered bridge are his creations, an extension of his family history offered to yours to enjoy. In that spirit, kids and pets are welcome!

The pond is perfect for catch-and-release fishing, and there are two kayaks provided. A fire pit sets on the pond's banks, with firewood included. Two shaded patios run the Lodge's length, and feature plenty of furniture. A picturesque stone walkway leads to a waterfall that fills a pool that's great for young children. There's a charcoal pit on the deck (for cooking; not a fire pit), and you'll also find horseshoes, corn hole, over-sized Jenga, washer boards and tail gate golf, vivid Hill Country sunsets, wild birds and much more! With safety in mind, a signed release is required to stay here.

Guests will love the radiant woodwork inside the Lodge! Fun, colorful touches like antler chandeliers, a mounted quilt, and a totem pole enhance the space. Comfort's assured with central air, ceiling fans, and an indoor wood-burning fireplace. The living area has three couches and a Roku-ready TV, along with Wifi. The kitchen includes appliances and cooking and serving ware, and the dining area has a 12-person table and eight bar stools! The utility room has a washer and dryer, industrial sink, deep freeze, commercial ice maker, and handy half-bath.

Three bedrooms, each with a queen-sized bed and full bath, are named after concepts dear to the owners' hearts: The Whitetail Room, for the deer nearby; the Cowboy Room, for their love of John Wayne; and the Indian Room, since their parents were teachers on a Navajo reservation. The bedrooms have private entrances that lead to the patio. With additional trundle beds and queen-sized chair/beds, there's sleeping space for up to 12, and all beds and baths include fresh linens.

Backroads Reservations would love to introduce your family to the loving family haven of Lantana Lodge! Come create your own fond family memories to add to the legacy here!

What’s in a Name: Nameless, Texas

About five miles northeast of Lago Vista, and three north of Jonestown, you’ll find remnants of an interesting Hill Country ghost town. Nameless, Texas, never reached even 100 residents, and its overall history was fairly ordinary, but at the heart of its history is one of the most frustrating examples of governmental bureaucracy you’ll find anywhere.

This Lantana Lodge is a special little nook inset in a wonderful Texas landscape. It is a hunting-style lodge that exudes years of craftsmanship, dedication, and love for the Texas Hill Country. While the lodge does satisfy that hunting-lodge feel, it also retains a romantic feel that will make you never want to leave. If you are looking to submerge yourself into and cultivate the proper Hill Country experience, this is your spot. The property boasts a scenic landscape and includes an indoor wood-burning fireplace, large fishing pond, outdoor games, hot tub, a complete wrap around porch with a grill and tables, and plenty of acreage to feel relaxed and decompress. It is guaranteed that you will have a hard time deciding if you want to stay inside and soak up the ambiance, or go outside and watch the sunset and stars take rise. One thing is for sure: you’ll have a hard time leaving.

The Lantana Lodge was absolutely peaceful and beautiful. It had everything we needed. It was a great escape from the rest of the world for our family over the Thanksgiving Holiday! We felt honored to be able to stay in a place that was created with so much care and artistry.

Our stay was very peaceful and restful. The house is so cool and I love how they shared the history of the home to help you truly appreciate what a special place it is. The property has everything you need to have a great get away. I would note for the bigger fellas out there that you might end up sleeping on the sofa, my husband is 6’ 4” and had a rough time on the bed, we slept in separate rooms so we wouldn’t disturb each other. Haha! Not a big deal, there are so many spots to get shut eye and none of them take away from the experience. ❤️
