The Spirit of the Hill Country: Where Texas History and Adventure Meet

There’s a certain feeling you get when you step into the Texas Hill Country — a quiet mix of wonder, freedom, and belonging. Maybe it’s the wide skies that stretch forever, or the way the hills catch the evening light just right. The Homestead was just what we needed. It was quiet, peaceful and beautiful. The house is a combination of my grandparents farmhouse and then you walk into a bathroom like at home. The hot tub was a nice touch too. It really took me back to 20 years ago. My youngest 2 got to see what it was like sleeping in a loft. I spent many many years sleeping in a loft with my uncles on the weekends while being there to work. I got back home today and feel so relaxed. This is a must stay place for me. Hopefully we are welcomed back again.

Beautiful home and porch. Also very comfortable beds and plenty of room for at least 14 ppl to sleep comfortably. It was very quiet even tho the owners home is very close. Plenty of deer to watch in the morning in the hottub with a cup of coffee!

Very comfortable home in Hill country. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen is small but has all the essentials. Lovely porch with lots of comfortable seating. Really enjoyed the hot tub. Great fire pit area, loved the campfire and stargazing. It’s not a very remote area- You can see a couple houses across the field. Some might consider this a pro or a con. We walked down to the creek on the road, which was a nice enough walk, but not a particularly inviting area to sit and play near the water. I’m not sure where else on the property there might be creek access, I did not ask the owner about this. We saw several deer. Peaceful property, that I would recommend.

A group of us had a golf tournament at the nearby Tapatio Springs Resort, and didn't want to rent six different rooms. This place was perfect. It was within 15 minutes of the course, gave us the room to spread out and hang out as a group, the hot tub was perfect for relaxing after the round, and the fire pit was fun to hang out at night. Place was just as described, the hosts were amazing, and we would recommend this spot to anyone! If our tournament schedule brings us to Tapatio Springs again, we won't look anywhere else!

We loved our stay at the Homestead and wish we could have stayed longer. I loved the fully setup kitchen, it made dinner and lunches even more enjoyable . It’s a beautiful home located in between the woods. We had many a visitors like deers, squirrels which we thoroughly enjoyed. The night sky was gorgeous for star gazing. Proximity to restaurants and grocery stores was also great. Absolutely loved the place! Only suggestion I have is to improve the lighting at the back porch Incase anyone wants to use the grill you provided. Also my family heard rustling noises at night and think they saw a coyote outline in the woods. So don’t wander off into the woods at night if visiting. If traveling with pets keep them close at nights. But having said that it all added to the experience of living in the woods and Shirley was a wonderful host! Best wishes for your future endeavors

Write a response Casitas at Madrona Ranch - Homestead Review #56130807 Star Star Star Star Star This house is perfect. My husband, dog and I were there for a long weekend. The house is well equipped with everything you need; the owner also put fresh ice in the freezer and had the a/c on before we arrived. Our dog loved watching the wildlife go past from the porch (where there’s rocking chairs for a nice morning coffee or evening drink). It’s super clean. Massive master bed with en suite too. We’d definitely recommend this house. Owners are beyond helpful and gave us loads of local recommendations. We can’t wait to stay again.
