Property Description

When it comes to waterfront vacation rentals in the Texas Hill Country, the Bluff House at Rockin' B Ranch stands tall among the best! Its elevated hillside perch allows for some of the best views of the gorgeous countryside. The creek on this 55-acre ranch sets the stage for fun and relaxing water activities, and the knockout amenities in the house-including a hot tub with amazing mountain views-makes it a perfect location for family getaways and retreats. You have to see it to believe it!

This kid- and pet-friendly space is one of our top picks for family vacations in Texas! You'll be surrounded by the natural splendor of the Hill Country, and the shopping, night life, and food of towns like Bandera, Pipe Creek, and Boerne are all just short drives away. Whatever's on your vacation checklist, the Bluff House will satisfy everyone you bring along!

Fish, hike, swim, and even use the available kayaks on the creek on the property, or just relax on the spacious decks that offer eye-popping elevated views of the Hill Country. Wildlife and birds abound, and the skies are perfect for stargazing on crystal-clear Texas nights. There's a fire pit and charcoal grill on hand for socializing and cookouts, and there's no better spot to relax in than the hot tub, right on the hillside! Smoking is fine here, as long as you keep it outside. Since creek depth is seasonal, please ask us about its status when you book.

Most of our guests gasp with surprise when they step inside for the first time! The living area has two walls of two-story windows that bring the stunning views indoors. Barn board and hardwood highlights fill the entire house, and central air, heat, and ceiling fans keep the whole space comfy. Two bedrooms feature two king beds and two queens, and a sleeper sofa that sleeps two guests rounds out comfortable sleeping arrangements for up to eight people.. There's a well-appointed kitchen, and a washer/dryer combo is also available. The two full baths both have showers, and the upstairs one includes a tub, as well. All bed and bath linens are provided for your stay. Finally, there's a smart TV installed with 40 free channels, Roku and a DVD player, and WIFI Internet service.

Rockin B has 4 houses on the property. Family reunions and retreats for up to 26 guests are easily accommodated at the Creek View Barndominium, Summit House, Bluff House and the Love Shack spread across the 55 acres.

The Hill Country is Wine Country!

In the past two decades or so, the wine industry in the Hill Country has exploded with growth. That’s easy to see, with new wineries opening at a rapid pace...but we, and some of our readers, have questions. How are productive wine regions discovered? Are there official wine producing areas, and if so, how are they designated as such? This article will dig a little deeper into these questions and more.

A Handy Hill Country Q & A

At Backroads Reservations, we’re especially aware that the Texas Hill Country is reliant in a big way on tourism. We’re proud to welcome people here, and to introduce them to our own little corner of heaven. With that said, we’re also aware that everyone can’t be from here; we have a tongue-in-cheeksaying that “I’m not from Texas, but I got here as fast as I could.”

A Park By Any Other Name: Hill Country WMAs

Visitors to the Texas Hill Country are generally aware of the state, county, and city parks available to them for recreation and relaxation. From the sprawling 12,000-plus acres of the Government Canyon State Natural Area to the modest but still impressive 16 acres of Old Tunnel State Park, there’s plenty of space and natural diversity to explore, not to mention parks of wildly varying sizes!

My wife and two daughters had a great time. The house has spectacular views of the hills with large windows facing the sunset. We enjoyed fishing at the creek, grilling, and relaxing in the hot tub at night. Nearby Boerne has several good restaurants and we visited A Cave Without a Name. The only thing we needed to do was buy a pack of playing cards, which we left at the house for future visitors. The owners were very kind & responsive. I would definitely book again, especially if we get some much needed rainfall.

Bluff house was perfect for our family! The views were amazing and the home was well stocked with everything we needed. Kids loved the hot tub and s’mores from the outdoor fire pit. If you’re looking for a peaceful weekend getaway that’s close to Boerne and Bandera, this is your place! Highly recommend !!!

This place is great! We felt so relaxed by the time we left, the view is beautiful and we spent most of the time in the hot tub enjoying it. We will be back! So impressive! You guys are really on top of it and it made all the difference, thank you so much, it was dreamy!
Ted
Excellent property! It’s an awesome place to unplug and unwind. Great deck with a view and a hot tub to finish the day with a good soak. Oh, the private fishing spot is really, really awesome.
Brian
The house and property are beautiful and the pictures are accurate. The interior decor has lots of western charm and the views are truly spectacular. The house is open and airy, though that means you can hear what's going on in every room. The A/C works great, which was especially important in August. We really enjoyed the animals on the property. we saw deer all the time, as well as a bunch of birds and other woodland creatures. A road runner even came to visit by the picnic table. It's a short drive to Boerne (which has everything you might need) and to Bandera for some good dining and local shopping, but it still feels totally isolated and calm. We used it as a base to visit a few state parks (Gardner, Lost Maples, Guadalupe) and a couple of wineries to the north. In the evenings, we walked our dog, watched hockey playoffs, and relaxed in the hot tub at the end of the deck. The hosts were very responsive and super helpful. We had a great time and would definitely return!
Brooke
everything kids will love..., hiking, swimming in the creek, kayaking, swimming in the jacuzzi, ping pong, homemade meals, and great cuddle time in the open kitchen/family room layout watching movies together! Just what we needed!
