Mountain Views on 15 Acres · Bortle 2 Dark Skies

Short Description

A renovated home on 15 private acres near Camp Wood with a pretty view of the mountains. A sunroom across the back, a wood-burning rock fireplace, a telescope under some of the darkest skies in Texas, and two public Nueces River access points within five minutes. Sleeps 6.

Property Description

Nueces River Escape sits on 15 private acres outside Camp Wood, with a pretty view of the mountains and no neighbors in sight. The Nueces River is close by: there are two good public access points within five minutes of the house, and the neighborhood has its own community river area for guests. Either way, you can swim, wade or kayak.

The house has been carefully renovated. The open kitchen and living room center on a wood-burning rock fireplace, with green cabinets, butcher-block counters and a farmhouse sink. The primary bedroom has its own bath, a second bedroom uses the full hall bath, and a side room with a queen bed takes extra guests. The mattresses are Tuft & Needle, and the coffee maker is a Moccamaster.

Most days start in the sunroom across the back of the house, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a view of the deer feeder, where whitetail and axis deer come in at dawn. At night the sky takes over. On a clear night the Milky Way is easy to see, and the telescope is there for a closer look.

Outside there's a deck with a tree over it, a fire pit with Adirondack chairs facing the view, a hammock, and a stone BBQ and smoker. Fiber internet reaches inside and out if you need to work, and there's an EV charger on site.

Early check-in may be available; just ask us. Every stay comes with the Texas Hill Country Travel App, a local guide for exploring the area.

Good to know
The community river area is down a rough road, so you'll need a 4x4 or high-clearance vehicle to reach it. One UTV (side-by-side) is allowed; ATVs, three-wheelers and dirt bikes are not.
