All aboard! Muller's Ark Caboose is located ten miles from Bandera, yet is a perfect private setting as a getaway Hill Country cabin. This genuine Southern Pacific caboose will be your fun and comfortable whistle-stop when you visit the Cowboy Capital of the World! It's no mere place to stay, but a memorable and perfect getaway vacation spot you'll recall years later with sentences that start with, "Remember when we...." Don't let this piece of railroad history pass you by!

Most trains don't even have cabooses anymore, but in their heyday they worked hard as bunkhouses, tool sheds, lookout posts, and even campaign platforms. Muller's Ark Caboose served admirably, and now spends its time as a clear river cabin near the Medina River, a wonderfully relaxing setting with beautiful Hill Country views. It's a cozy, clean, and comfy get-away-from-it-all spot that accommodates up to three guests-both cheery and remote, with no nearby neighbors. You'll have the whole place to yourself!

With 2,000 feet of Medina River frontage on the property, you'll enjoy everything like swimming, tubing, fishing, or just relaxing to the mellow sounds only a riverfront property can offer. There's a spacious deck out back (complete with patio furniture), which overlooks the property's private lake-another great fishing spot! The ample acreage here is perfect for hiking, and various wildlife frequent the area as a safe and quiet watering hole. This is a popular pet-friendly holiday rental near Bandera, and there's lots of room for them to romp!

Don't let the rural setting make you think you'll be roughing it; there are a lot of conveniences inside! There's central air and heating, so you'll be comfortable year round. Bunk-style beds (single above, double below) allow restful sleep for up to three. The living space is topped off by a rustic Franklin stove. There's also a fully equipped kitchen, TV with DVD player, and bathroom with both bath and shower. All basic linens are provided.

The days of passenger railroads are, for the most part, in the past-but when you visit Muller's Ark Caboose, you'll be able to experience your own slice of railroading history, in this unique Texas Hill Country getaway. It's a weekend cabin rental like no other-you can almost hear the nostalgic sound of a train traveling down the rails! All this makes it one of the best Bandera holiday rentals!

Biker Rallies of Texas

Supporting and boosting local businesses and events is at the very heart of what we do at Backroads Reservations! The good folks at Biker Rallies of Texas are the devoted organizers of the most popular motorcycle rallies in the Hill Country. With major rallies in the spring and fall, they work nonstop to assure safety, organization, great memories, and a good time is had by all attending! They’ve got their start in 2000, when they arranged rallies in Liberty County and Kerrville, Texas. Two years later, they found their permanent home in Bandera. Let’s take a look at the two major events they currently host.

Boerne’s Hill Country Mile

In the hustle of modern American life, it’s easy to lose sight of an important cultural fact: it’s difficult to get everything done on your daily to-do list without a car. Too many towns have been designed with outwardly-expanding sectors of commerce that put one business or attraction miles away from another. The larger the size of the town, the more true this adage seems to be.

Bandera is a beautiful little town in the Texas Hill Country, and Muller's Ark is a great property just outside of town. Mr. Steve is a wonderful host, super friendly, salt of the earth! My family and I really enjoyed the stay in this Caboose and the history of how it it was acquired. We look forward to our next stay at Muller's Ark!

We stayed at the Caboose on Muller's Ark Ranch last Thurs thru Sunday. It was an amazing place to spend some quiet time on a wonderful piece of property. Quite possibly the most peaceful trip I've taken in 20 years. The property owner himself was an amazing guy and we enjoyed meeting him and knowing some of the property's history. We HIGHLY recommend this place. My wife and I had such a memorable experience, as did our 3 year old German Shepherd. Thanks to all involved in making this trip happen so smoothly.

Thank you Steve and Patsy. It was lovely, quiet and peaceful. I would suggest that you check out the one broken board on the landing outside of the kitchen I can certainly recommend the caboose to my friends!
Carly
Comfortable, charming, basic accommodations that allowed us to be active during the day in the surrounding nature and come home and relax.
Kelly
Great experience. The caboose was a fun way to spend a weekend and there is lots in the area to do.
