Property Description

Immerse yourself in cowboy country in style at the Lonesome Dove Guest House! All the western charm of the Cowboy Capital of the World is at your doorstep in this attractive and unique guest house. This rustic and historic 1915 structure has been meticulously restored with a warm barn wood interior, and generously updated with modern amenities to enrich your stay! Only a short walk away (and we're talking a block and a half) lies a glittering stretch of the beautiful Medina River.

You can almost hear the jangling spurs and neighing of horses at the hitching posts outside! This is the perfect vacation rental in Bandera, with most of its popular attractions within walking distance. One of the most famous honky tonks in Texas-the 11th Street Cowboy Bar-is right across the street! Antiquing, cuisine, shopping, you name it; it's all here-and the natural beauty of the Medina River is yours to enjoy, too. You'll be in the heart of all the best Bandera has to offer.

A shaded porch is out front, complete with seating-and we weren't kidding about those vintage hitching posts; they're right out front, too. This is the perfect central location from which to watch the activity of the Cowboy Capital of the World-and a great place to join in on the shopping and night life. Take the short walk to the Bandera City Park on the Medina River and enjoy a peaceful stroll or try your hand at fishing, as well. All this is nestled in the gorgeous setting of the Texas Hill Country!

This cozy and romantic rental sleeps up to four, with a queen bed in the bedroom and a queen size pull-out couch in the living area. The full bath has a roomy shower, and all bed and bath linens are provided. If you'd like to stay in for an intimate meal, the kitchens fully equipped, including cooking and serving ware. Central air and heating keep the space comfortable, and there are two Smart TVs on hand for you to access your favorite apps. There is WIFI and great cell service. The vintage Wild West touches blend perfectly with the modern comforts at Lonesome Dove!

The Hill Country is Wine Country!

In the past two decades or so, the wine industry in the Hill Country has exploded with growth. That’s easy to see, with new wineries opening at a rapid pace...but we, and some of our readers, have questions. How are productive wine regions discovered? Are there official wine producing areas, and if so, how are they designated as such? This article will dig a little deeper into these questions and more.

A Handy Hill Country Q & A

At Backroads Reservations, we’re especially aware that the Texas Hill Country is reliant in a big way on tourism. We’re proud to welcome people here, and to introduce them to our own little corner of heaven. With that said, we’re also aware that everyone can’t be from here; we have a tongue-in-cheeksaying that “I’m not from Texas, but I got here as fast as I could.”

A Park By Any Other Name: Hill Country WMAs

Visitors to the Texas Hill Country are generally aware of the state, county, and city parks available to them for recreation and relaxation. From the sprawling 12,000-plus acres of the Government Canyon State Natural Area to the modest but still impressive 16 acres of Old Tunnel State Park, there’s plenty of space and natural diversity to explore, not to mention parks of wildly varying sizes!

Backroad Reservations is awesome to book your stay in the Bandera (and surrounding areas). Spencer is great! I love that they have an app and make the instructions and house information easy and detailed so you can plan accordingly. We stayed in the Lonesome Dove directly across from 11th Street Cowboy Bar and it was super cute! We will be staying there again the night of our wedding.

Spencer and everyone else at Backwoods Reservations truly understand customer service! I had so many issues when it came to booking a place to stay through a separate booking site and Spencer spent so much time helping me out! Apart from that, the stay was perfect. We parked the truck when we got there and it didn’t move until we left...that’s how close you are to everything! The place is clean, has a home feel, and offers everything that you need for a laid back getaway. I hope you like live music, because 11st Street is open until 2am every night with love music!
