Property Description

Two full stories of Texas beauty are yours at the Last Outpost's Ranch House! This kid-friendly vacation rental is an amazing Hill Country family gathering spot. Kids (must be 5 years or older) love the buffalo and wildlife that roam the game ranches that neighbor the property, and its secluded location ensures peace and privacy. If you'd like to kick it up in town, that's no problem! Great Hill Country towns like Bandera, Kerrville, and Medina are all close by. Wake up each morning to a complimentary breakfast, too!

With space that comfortably sleeps up to six people, the Ranch House is the perfect family gathering spot! A picturesque little creek flows nearby, where you can swim and catch-and-release fish. (The depth of the creek can vary by season; please check with us when you book.) There are other great attractions within a half hour or so from here, too; take the family tubing on the Medina and Guadalupe rivers, or surround yourself in the natural beauty of the Hill Country State Natural Area. It's also a great starting point for scenic tours of the region.

Mountain views delight the eye here in every direction. With both a porch and an outdoor seating area - both of which have plenty of patio furniture - you can soak in those views in quiet comfort. In the mood for a snack, or maybe a steak? A chimenea, fire pit (with wood provided), and charcoal grill are on hand for your use here. You'll be greeted with a generous quantity of breakfast foods left in the house for your enjoyment in the morning, including delicious treats like bacon, eggs, sausage, pancakes, oatmeal, and coffee.

From its sturdy stone foundation to its professionally-decorated interior, the Ranch House is your Texas home away from home! Heating and cooling units, along with ceiling fans, keep the space comfortable, and five plush beds provide dreamy sleeping accommodations for up to six people. There's a fully-appointed kitchen and a full bathroom with a shower stall, and all bed and bath linens are included during your visit. Another nice little extra is the complimentary beverages you'll find in the fridge! The TV here has satellite service, as well. The house's remote location means there is no Wifi, and be aware cell coverage can be spotty here.

We had a wonderful weekend staying here. The house was even better than expected. Clean, comfortable with beautiful, rustic decor & the remote location (approx 12-15 miles from both Kerrville & Bandera) allowed us to soak up the Hill Country.

Beautifully decorated, a lot of attention to detail. Well stocked and great customer service. The animals were a fun little surprise. My 9yo enjoyed being around them and Mrs. Jones was nice enough to educate him about them and even let him help her feed them. Overall it we had a great time and it was nice getaway.

The cabin was very comfortable. The king size bed upstairs was very comfortable, and lots of neat things decorated the place. There was a hammock that I meant to use, but didn’t get to it before we left. The property is great and there’s a barbecue pit, as well as a fire pit to sit around and make s’mores, both porches have comfortable seating, and the host provided quite a bit of food items, for breakfast. Milk coffee, biscuits, sausage, eggs, cereal muffins, pancake mix, fruit.. towels and toiletries were also included. Basically, u just need to bring ur own clothes and a little more food! Great place!

We loved our time here! The property is just like the photos - even better! Very clean and quiet. We loved the free range chickens and small longhorn herd - which we helped feed! At night, we enjoyed sitting at the back table enjoying s'mores under the starlight! We will definitely be back !

Everything as expected & More! We loved the property, the location, chickens & livestock, the campfires; didn't even have to worry about buying firewood. Having a stocked refrigerator with breakfast items was a bonus, thank you! We couldn't find the matches because they blended so well into the kitchen decor- how we laughed at that after the fact. Thank you Joan for bringing us more matches and responding to our call. Comfy beds. My girls were not bothered by little or no cell phone reception because there were so many nature distractions for them to see and interact with. The house pictures, (to me), made the house seem bigger than we really needed, but the house was just the right size for the four of us to be comfy and cozy. Liked the Western/Indian decor, in particular a few items stood out: The Turtle Shell Indian artifact, Ice box cabinet and the Iron stove end table (used as decor); this brought up some loved family memories of our own. Loved opening the front door in the morning to hear the birds in the front porch tree singing. Open the back and see horses and maybe even the host's cat. This property sits on a hill with the host's house next to it, but you feel like you are by yourself because it's so quiet. Your view of the hill country landscape is beautiful when you walk out that front door. The drive up to the house from the highway is typical hill country: down, turn, cross a dry river bed, up, turn, while the longhorn cattle check you out! Just wished we had more time to stay longer. Will definitely be back. Thank you Joan for being such a great host!
