Property Description

Imagine a private riverside resort, a kid-friendly and pet-friendly hideaway loaded with luxurious amenities, and tons of fun and relaxing things to do. All this and more awaits you at the Guadalupe River Retreat, one of the best Hill Country vacation destinations, tucked away in the gorgeous mountainous terrain just outside Boerne! It's perfect for nature lovers and travelers alike with its rural setting, but with the charming city of Boerne close by.

Fishing, swimming, and canoeing are all instantly available to you, thanks to a private Guadalupe River frontage, and you're set for tubing, too (contact Bergheim Campground and River Outfitters in Boerne for more info on floats. Activities are seasonal, and water levels are based on rain). The property is at the end of the road, with no neighbors near this private Hill Country getaway, just wide-open countryside! If the shopping or night life bugs should bite, Bandera and Boerne are just a short drive away.

A shaded porch offers great views of the river and the terrain beyond, and the property is populated with both deer and birds; the latter love to visit the numerous feeders here. Along with patio furniture and a fire pit, there are two porch swings-one on the deck, the other on the river's bank. Ample parking is available for your vehicles.

The "wow factor" inside starts with over 50 linear feet of windows encircling the living area, inviting the beauty of the outdoors, indoors. There's ample seating in the living, seating and dining areas. The huge kitchen features modern appliances, cookware and serving ware, and there's also a washer/dryer combo. Three comfy bedrooms sleep up to seven: a king and a single day bed in the master; a queen in the second bedroom; and two singles in the third. All bed and bath linens are provided, with two full baths: the master features a jacuzzi and shower, the second has a shower/tub combo. There is also an additional half-bath. Central A/C and heat keep the house comfortable, and there's a satellite smart TV and DVD player for you to enjoy.

The views, the perks, the awesome waterfront location alongside a popular river-these factors, and so many more, make the Guadalupe River Retreat an incredible private Hill Country hideaway! Touch base with us at Backroads Reservations, and we'll happily help you book this Lone Star gem.

The Cowboy Capital of the World: Why Bandera Still Rides Tall

There are towns in Texas with cowboy roots — and then there’s Bandera. Nestled along the Medina River, surrounded by rolling hills and wide-open ranchland, Bandera isn’t just proud of its heritage — it lives it every day. Known far and wide as the Cowboy Capital of the World, Bandera embodies the spirit of the Old West with a genuine authenticity that’s getting harder to find. Here, boots aren’t just for show, rodeos still pack the stands, and a handshake still means something.

The Spirit of the Hill Country: Where Texas History and Adventure Meet

There’s a certain feeling you get when you step into the Texas Hill Country — a quiet mix of wonder, freedom, and belonging. Maybe it’s the wide skies that stretch forever, or the way the hills catch the evening light just right. Maybe it’s the old stone towns, where history whispers through limestone walls, or the rivers that carve their way patiently through time. Whatever it is, this place has a spirit all its own. It’s rugged yet graceful, wild yet welcoming — the kind of place that invites you to explore, stay a while, and remember what life feels like when it’s simple and real.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Guadalupe River Retreat house. It was roomy, clean and the view was excellent. Everything we needed was there and the host checked on us after we arrived to see if there was anything we needed.
Michelle
House was clean, comfortable, quiet and had everything needed. Location, on the fiver, is amazing. Property manager was helpful and quick to respond. Great Job!
Jay
Great place with awesome hosts and exceptionally great for our needs. So, now that we’ve stayed and left, we can tell you how much your place saved us! We had a reservation for our grandson’s baptism that ended up double-booked. The prior host helped us find your place and we were blown away by your property. Thank you so much. We will definitely PLAN to stay with you next time we’re coming to the area.

Texas hill country living at its finest. If you are looking for a place to relax and unplug this is the home. Amazing views from open living room and kitchen areas. Morning coffee watching deer by the river. Spent days at table playing games and puzzles. Naps on the comfy couch waking up to birds calling from feeders off the deck. Easy access for those using walkers/wheelchairs. Internet speed was perfect for my remote work. Also can’t say enough about Spencer and Jess. They were always available for our questions and quickly resolved any concerns.

The best hill country property at which I've stayed. Conveniently close to Boerne, yet also providing peaceful solitude. The property has a river-facing brace of windows that allows contemplation of a pristine stretch of the Guadalupe River. An outstanding place to stay.
