The Spirit of the Hill Country: Where Texas History and Adventure Meet

There’s a certain feeling you get when you step into the Texas Hill Country — a quiet mix of wonder, freedom, and belonging. Maybe it’s the wide skies that stretch forever, or the way the hills catch the evening light just right. Maybe it’s the old stone towns, where history whispers through limestone walls, or the rivers that carve their way patiently through time. Whatever it is, this place has a spirit all its own. It is a lovely cabin. Comfortable for three grown adults and a dog. My dog loved the huge yard to run free and make new friends. The people live in the area where friendly. Best part was the River, hear birds singing and watch deer eat in the field only a few feet away from you. It was a lovely place. It’s mom and dog approved ? Thanks for checking up on us during our stay and making us feel welcome
Bethany
Total gem on the Guad! Love this dog friendly scenic property right near the river. David, the host, was attentive, friendly, and treated us like a true neighbor. He made us feel at home, we don’t think the trip would have been the same with out his accommodations! Couldn’t have asked for a better mini getaway! We will define you be returning!
Juliana
This is a SPOT! My children (3,5,19) and I enjoyed everything! We are coming back. “Mr. David”, as my children call him, was AhhMazing! We will definitely book again. ??????????

“As always it was a pleasure staying with Backroads. Our host was more than hospitable. Amongst the wildlife we got to enjoy his cute little dog, Honey Mae, who greeted us every morning.”
Renee
Backroads is the perfect spot for a long weekend. Beautiful piece of property that borders the Guadalupe. The cabin was immaculate but we wanted to spend most of our time outside anyway! We enjoyed watching the deer, sitting in the river and the amazing view of the stars at night. We have already recommended this spot to several friends
Christopher
Cabin had everything we needed, and the property is GORGEOUS! Feed the deer in the morning or evening, enjoy the river just STEPS from the front door, and soak in some nature! David the manager is extremely courteous, and Backroads Texas was easy to book with, and extremely prompt with communication
