The Spirit of the Hill Country: Where Texas History and Adventure Meet

There’s a certain feeling you get when you step into the Texas Hill Country — a quiet mix of wonder, freedom, and belonging. Maybe it’s the wide skies that stretch forever, or the way the hills catch the evening light just right. Maybe it’s the old stone towns, where history whispers through limestone walls, or the rivers that carve their way patiently through time. Whatever it is, this place has a spirit all its own. It’s rugged yet graceful, wild yet welcoming — the kind of place that invites you to explore, stay a while, and remember what life feels like when it’s simple and real.

The teepee was awesome and exceeded our expectations. It had all the amenities you could want with fridge, hot water, electricity, etc. We overpacked bc we wanted to be prepared for "camping," but we would've been fine without just about everything we brought for plates, knives, tongs, soap, etc. The teepee was really comfortable, the bathroom was everything you'd want or need short of being connected inside the teepee, and the grounds were perfect for a getaway from the city. We saw a ton of wildlife, grilled, enjoyed bonfires, stargazed, and relaxed in the hot tub overlooking the river at night. We came in mid-March, and the weather was perfect. There also weren't many bugs at all yet, and they did not come inside the teepee (we were careful about keeping it zipped up all the time).

A great glamping experience! The Teepee is a very cool concept and was plenty comfortable. The property itself is beautiful, and a great view of the creek and woods behind it. The hot tub was perfect for when it was cold and gloomy out. Guest should know though it is still camping, grilling will be the main source of cooking and it is very dark at night (aside for the hundreds of stars!!!). The teepee also flaps and creeks when it’s windy, which can be a bit unnerving at first in contrast to the silence of the night. It’s still a great experience and will definitely do again! The host is very nice and considerate, even coming by to check in on us ahead of some forecasted rains and brought extra commodities. Overall a great experience.

This location was amazing! We went during November and were a little worried about the potential nighttime cold but the tipi stayed warm and comfortable the entire night. It had two heaters that we put on medium heat and that was plenty. We were blown away with how nice this setup was. The tipi, amazing, the hot tub, flawless, the restroom/bathroom top notch. Beautiful spot, the deck is awesome. We saw deer everyday. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone looking for a unique getaway.

Relaxing weekend away. We loved watching the wildlife around us and enjoyed the convenience of going into town for food and live music. The tipi was very spacious, bathroom was very clean, and deck area was beautiful. We weren’t able to fish or float due to the water level, but we enjoyed just sitting outside too.

This stay was fantastic! Tricia and backwoods reservations were more than helpful and kind! We did get lost trying to find the camp. Using google maps was more accurate to navigate the location. Everything was so clean and beautiful! The AC never got over 70 and stayed at 68 even during the afternoons! The hot tub worked amazing and was ready to go! I have never been a fan of bird watching but I could not stop watching the hummingbirds on the patio enjoying their feeder! It is a super private area and so relaxing. I highly recommend this amazing little spot for a couples get away! Bandera has so much to offer and staying here just made it so much more enjoyable! Obviously being in nature you will encounter bugs and fuzzy creatures so come prepared for this encounter with a little bug spray or replant candles! We most definitely will be coming back!

Tricia welcomed us and showed us around the moment we arrived. We felt very happy to be there. The deck that is integrated with the oak trees looked like a dream. The Tipi was quite comfortable and cool even with the heat. The hot tub was so lovely! The stars so beautiful and the water is the exact color as in the photos. We had fun in the water and enjoyed our view of the trees on the other side. Lots of birds and deer around. Inside the Tipi there is plenty of room. The bathroom is cool and perfect. We loved waking up to sunrise, soaking up the sun and watching all kinds of birds stop by. The deck overlooking the water has the perfect spots to enjoy the calmness. Thank you for having us. It was hard to leave. Next time we are staying for more nights instead of two. It’s just worth it! Thank you!
